OK ported box gurus...I have a new truck, a 2019 Nissan Frontier Crew-cab. I has very little space under the rear seat but I should be able to shoe-horn a Sundown SD4-12d4. Sundown only recommends sealed...but I was curious what sort of a ported enclosure y'all might come up with. I'll only be able to squeeze about 1.25 to 1.5 cubes total so a ported 12 may be unrealistic. I'll also post the TSP's for the 10 which may be a better choice.

The key here is smallest ported enclosure tuned low...I only intend to feed the sub 500rms via a JD HD 900/5

Thanks folks!

Just to clarify...I'm not looking for exact dimensions to fit under my seat, I'm looking for airspace/tuning/port recomendations specific to the sub...I'll figure out the logistics of making it fit later.

I would try this setup. 1 cubic foot vented.

It's on my short-list as well. i was leaning towards the SD$ because of the underhung design and the fact that it has 50mm+ of xmech so it would be less likely to bottom-out like many low-pro drivers do. i have heard very good things about the TW line though...may end up being my ultimate choice. i currntly own a 13tw5v1 that I'll be making a sealed box for...but I have a feeling I'll want to try a ported box though.

sundown SD series needs ported. Sounds like absolute **** in a sealed or rather just extremely weak especially in a truck yikes. The sundown will be centered around deep low frequency response more while the JL T series will have a typical musical sound focused a bit on the higher notes naturally.

I'm looking for a really low response from the driver. The rest of the system will be AudioFrog GB10 Tweets, GB25 mids and GS690's so I'll have plenty of midbass.

definitely sundown over the JL 100% it kills 40hz and under, not so good above that.

SD are their sealed designed subs. Considered a shallow but not as shallow as other subs. Go EV3 for ported.
not from my experience, they performed like **** in a sealed, weak output, weak bandwidth. However my SD-3 10 had actual sundown level performance in a ported.

Any suggestions on size and tuning for the SDs?
Thanks!

You stated you have an SIA 3500 right now. I would run it for now with the supply for the demand, until you decide you want more power and have...

Wired to option #1 would be ideal for those subs. I have quite a few 10s. in the proper enclosure, tens can get down pretty good with the right...
