Sundown SAZ-1500D only 400W RMS @ 4ohm?

Currently have two dual voice coil 4ohm subs. So I can wire them as 4ohm or 1ohm. They are 400RMS each so 1ohm (1500RMS) seems like a little much. But 4ohm is rated to 400RMS, so what do you think is the better option? The subs are earthquake DBX 12's, almost everyone says they will do rated power just fine. Rated power is 800W max 400Rms

Just run it at one and turn the gain down to an even output
Alright, the last guy who owned them wired them up with what looks like 500W rated power cable not sure of the gauge, looks cheap 14 or 16, should I do a wiring upgrade as well? If so what gauge do you think would be sufficient?

I think he meant speaker cable wiring...12g is fine. Many people use 8 gauge.
Alright i'l look into some 8, but regarding what kr15 said, I indeed may need an electrical upgrade. Currently running the 1000W (500RMS) Xplod, 6 Gauge from bat to a cap that the guy gave me, then I used some 4 gauge to do grounds and cap to amp connections. Would I be putting the SAZ at risk be keeping the current setup? 30 or 40 bucks is nothing if i'm putting that 1500D on the line. What do you think??

1/0 for the ground and 12 maybe 10 if you could even fit it for the woofers... also depending on your alt size you may want to consider doing the big 3 How to upgrade the Big Three
Speaking of grounding, the dude who helped me wire this up used the bolt for the seat as a ground, only problem is that the bolts are covered in paint. Is that okay? or no, I dont think it is :|..but it is working for the sony amp.. btw sry for double post :|

Your gonna wanna sand away at it. Easy way to check is to use a dmm an put it on ohms the lowest u can get the better. Bigger wire is ways better it's marginallypre expensive than what you would have to buy period. But it worksite better flowing current and always for future upgrades.

You deffinitly need bigger wire from the batt to the cap....I'd even throw the cap out and go at least 2ga, cause of the SAZ, to a distro and then 4ga to the amps. You shouldn't go smaller wire from the batt and then bigger to the amps. Do the Big3, sell the cap....and yes sand the hell out of the grounding point. The better the ground the less chance you have at having problems.
