Ok, I am about as new to systems as an 80 year old with a computer. My friend is big into all this stuff, but we're both stumped as to what my problem is. And now I will tell you what the problem is...

I have 2 sundown e8's and saz-1000d. I was just driving, may have had a little bump, but after that my subs quit hittin. They came back on for a moment and then quit again. I have tried new RCA's, i rewired the subs(i'm only using 16 gauge right now =/ ), and I even tried my SAX-125.2, and nothing has worked. My amp turns on, I believe my REM is still good, cause if I take it out of my amp it shuts off, so I'm lost right now. My amp clicks when it turns on, like it always did, and then it clicks again and then nothing happens. Any suggestions??

no. i think i figured it out. jacob from sundown said that the tinsel lead connection to the voice coils on the subs were bad. which could very well be the case. i had a log slam into the back of my cab and that's where my subs were. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif woofercooker is getting some recones and he said that would fix it, so that's what i'm going to do.

Well i'm running the 125.2 off the same ground right now. I just took the 1000d out for right now, since I have no need for it at the time, since my subs aren't in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif You really want the 125.2? ha ha. pm me.

Well, since I am so new to this stuff, I don't really know what a dmm is. lol. I've been on here nonstop lately and i've read about them, but I can't tell if it's just a normal meter or something different. And if it is a normal meter, like the one sitting in front of me, how do I check the leads on the subs?

You are correct, is it just a regular meter. I believe you want to put the meter on Ohms and attach the leads to the positive and negative, if it reads as it is supposed to then its fine. I think E8's were single 4 ohm subs.

right...you could also put the amp and subs back in and try pressing down on the dustcap/cone and see if ti plays...is so your tinsel leads are bad...but if the DMM shows bad coils it could be tinsels or coils....Recone is only way to fix either.

ok, so i put the testers into the terminals, + to

+ and so on, and i got nothing. so i'm going to assume it has to be what jacob previously stated, but on a different thread. i finally looked at these and it looks like they're the subs from the presale on diyma back in 08. tinsels glued to the spiders and everything. i musta done something bad. ha ha.
