Ok guys.. Thinking about picking up a Sundown 1200D to power two 10 inch inifity kappa's 100.9w The speakers are rated at 350 RMS and 1400 peak and have selectable 2 and 4 ohm impedance.

The amp is rated for 1200x1 @ 1ohm, 720x1 @ 2ohm or 360x1 @ 4ohm..

I guess my question would be what would be the best way to wire the 2 tens to the subs either series or parallel because the subs do have selectable impedance.. Also I assume the amp would do to power the subs..

Thanks for reading and helping..

how much u paying for that amp?

im not familiar with ur subs so i cant say how much they can take. but i have 2 10s rated at 350watts rms, i have them wired to 2 ohm to my AQ 1200D that gives them 870 watts. been a year no problems.

the sundown might do more than the 720 its rated for, but even if it does just as much as the AQ amp, the AQ should be cheaper from what ive seen

The amp is almost 400 its like 369 or 379.

You can get an aq2200 for 389. Not sure if that includes shiping. Good amps from what I've seen online and heard about. Folks on here can vouch for them. They make good power.

Never mind everyone found there website and a AQ1200D is $250... I think the 1200 should be just fine to power 2 10 inch Kappa's.. I think being the key word lmao..

Here are the stats on the 1200.. Says 870 @ 2ohm's and the speakers are rated at 350rms.. So I am pretty sure that should work, and save me almost 150 bucks.. My only thing is there any special considerations for when I go to wire everything up. I mean I assume I can run both speakers off of a mono amp... But my thing is should I wire them in series or parallel..

Cause if my understanding is right I can set the speakers to 4ohm then wire them parallel which would give me a total load of 2ohm's right ??

Thanks bro.. I am gona be doing the Big 3 soon as the weather breaks and my supplies arrive and or I will have to wait till after the winter..

i think that amp would be perfect for the subsmake sure u have a good elctrical so u get full juice

ya my purpose in showing u the amp was to save u money. even if u upgrade subs later, u could move up to 600 watt rms each subs and wire them for 1 ohm and get 1200 out of the amp.

u said the subs have switchable ohms, 2 or 4 ohm, but are they single voice coil or dual?

Here is two dual 2 ohm dual voice coil subs wired for 2 ohm load

This is what u want.

or if they are single voice coil subs, set them to 4 ohm and wire them like this

Well according to the website they have triple voice coils..

Infinity subwoofers have always distinguished themselves clearly from the competition. The Infinity SSI Kappa series subwoofers are no exception and fight on a playing field all their own. Right away the coated glass-fiber cone shows off an air of sophistication and style while offering incredible rigidity that minimizes distortion.

Once you get past the cultured exterior, the interior components uphold Infinities affinity for advanced technology. This Kappa sub utilizes a triple voice coil system which gives it the incredible ability to offer selectable impedance. Selectable Smart Impedance (SSI) technology allows this sub to run at 2 Ohms or 4 Ohms with the flick of a switch. This allows you to extract the most from your subwoofer amplifier in any situation. If you decide to add a subwoofer down the line, SSI makes it easy to reconfigure your entire system without buying different subwoofers or amplifiers.

The SSI Kappa subwoofers handle a remarkable amount of power and sound incredible in sealed or ported enclosures. If you want great sounding bass with unheard of wiring versatility, Infinity Kappa subs are technologically advanced enough to handle it.

someone else will have to chime in, or perhaps u can email someone to find out.

my guess is its listed as 3 voice coils because its switchable. but im also guessing that means its dual voice coil because only 2 will be used at a time, the 3rd is so u can switch between 2 and 4 ohm. but to be honest i have no idea. im sure someone here knows tho

Its not like your traditional dual voice coil though.. They only have one set of speaker wire connections on the speaker.. So there is only one connection terminal built into the speaker..
