Sundown SA8v2 D2 that wont get loud.. at all.. :(

Whats funny is the people who installed it (They are a Hertz only re-seller) said they I shouldn't listen above 40 lol... The weird part is, even with the highs screaming the midbass drivers (HSK 165s) hardly put anything out... even the old Bose mids shook the doors with magnets no bigger than a silver dollar.. so part of me doesnt want to turn the mid/high amp down, just turn the tweeters down more.. I swear they set the crossovers wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif but they are very confident that they know more than me.. They are probably right.. just weird :/ But ill totally try it at 50 tomorrow man, thanks a lot for the information, ill do my best to keep my head up lol
The 80PRS has a lot to tweak. I just installed mine this week and it's going to take me a little while to set it up right. You could always run the auto EQ and see what that does for you. If they set that wrong you'll be able to tell a difference after that. If not, then you could turn the auto EQ off. If they are a Hertz dealer, I would hope they know what they are doing though.

I hope they know what they are doing, they are the only real installers in the CO springs.. Its them or cartoys.. (only sell kenwood/rockford/manestreemgarbage if you catch my drift) When I try to go into auto EQ it just says "Auto EQ needs to be set" and I cant get past that, (I pressed every button.. twice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif )

google how to auto eq the deck its fairly simple and only takes a few minutes. if they screwed anything up the auto eq will fix it, but it will turn the sub down to -24db as a factory preset so you can turn it up to your own listening preference.

To set auto EQ/TA, you will want to plug the microphone that came with the HU into the front aux port, and put it in whatever position you have selected in the menu (for example, if you have front left selected then hang the microphone over the left seat headrest, and adjust it to about where your head would be). With the car off, HU on, turn the HU off, but leave it powered on. I explained that weird, but just hold down the source button until it goes off, but don't turn the key out off accessory position. Now press and hold the EQ button on the faceplate. From there it will ask you for confirmation, and then you have 10 seconds to exit the car and shut the door. It takes like 5 minutes, plays a bunch of tones, and then displays "completed" when done. Make sure you do it in a quiet place.

But all that is in the manual, so, RTFM. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

^^Forgot to mention that, yes, it will turn the sub way down, so you'll have to go in and bump that back up.

thats a pretty good explanation. i didnt get out of my car when i did it but i doubt it would make much of a difference either way.

Is there a direct sublevel control I missed?

If your smart enough to make them work? Yes, amazing.. Apparently thats still a work in progress for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yet another dumb question, what mic is it? the circle or the one that looks like a mini desktop mic (I assume the circle)

There's something wrong somewhere. It sounds like what happened when I accidentally wired my sub backwards. You really need a DMM to check everything. It's only $15 usually at radioshack.
this is what i was thinking maybe one of the terminals was labeled backwards or something its so easy to check i would just check it even if i thought it was right

I pulled the sub and checked the wires, despite them using 18 gauge for a 1KW sub it looked fine
