Sundown SA8v2 D2 that wont get loud.. at all.. :(

I hooked one of these subs up in my brothers jeep on a JL 500.1 and it absolutely rocks. Solid clear bass and you feel and hear. So I bought one for my car, but I got a SAZ-1000D to power it. Here is the problem, I can't get the sub loud, at all, I even turned the amp gain all the way up to check (voltage was dropping less than .2V. and the sub hardly moves and yes its wired at 1ohm. Honestly I am flabbergasted that an amp that does half the power could be so **** loud, while this one wont do nearly any output what so ever. I dont have a DMM so I cant check voltage. I went into the deck (with the gain still max) and adjusted the EQ lowend to be higher, and the output increased significantly.. So is the RCA voltage really that low? the 80prs puts out its 5v at 0db at -24db its barely putting out anything. that just how the radio is set i had y amps set at a -5db so i could go up 5db without clipping the signal. my deck clips at 57-58 so i stop at 55.

First, turn the gain down. Now. You are going to blow your sub doing that. With the gain all the way up off that HU you are sending a clipped signal to your sub. It's not going to last long. You need to get a DMM and set your gains right.

What box do you have it in? How are you running the HU? Active or passive, where are the crossovers set and what slope, what's your EQ set to, etc.? There's a lot of tweaking possiblities on that HU.

I didnt leave it at max, it was just to test. Everything is stock on the HU slope wise, (the low slope starts at 80hz) the EQ is 0-80hz +2 and 1.5K-20K -3 (hertz tweeters are extremely bright) as for blowing the sub? Its hardly even moving man.. Box is ~1.4^3 @33Hz made by DC Creations

check and make sure the voice coils arent wired in reverse of one another.

I had my stuff installed by a shop, (because I didnt want to mod my pillars and doors) and they ran all the wires. :/ What gets me is the sub gets significantly louder with an increase in the EQ, to me that doesnt make sens, it shouldnt get that much louder if the gain is matched correctly. But even at max gain it hardly makes noise, but boost the EQ and it gets moving.. My last car was 2 SA12s on a SAZ1500D. then that car died and I sold everything. Oh dude, set that bish at 50 atleast. Turn down your highs amp if you need to. That sub should still get moving at 40, but it's not sending much voltage until you turn it up. Don't mess with the RCA's.

Whats funny is the people who installed it (They are a Hertz only re-seller) said they I shouldn't listen above 40 lol... The weird part is, even with the highs screaming the midbass drivers (HSK 165s) hardly put anything out... even the old Bose mids shook the doors with magnets no bigger than a silver dollar.. so part of me doesnt want to turn the mid/high amp down, just turn the tweeters down more.. I swear they set the crossovers wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif but they are very confident that they know more than me.. They are probably right.. just weird :/ But ill totally try it at 50 tomorrow man, thanks a lot for the information, ill do my best to keep my head up lol
