The only advantage to the single 15" is ease of wiring lol. and for the simple fact that you can have that "WOW" factor when all people see is a single 15. Also it could be the possibility of a smaller box
I myself favor single sub setups aswell.
The 2 12s would be louder, disperse heat better between the two subs so helping you see more power in the end due to impedance rise from coil heat. Just all in what your goals are and how much space you wanna give up. Those HDS 312 would be happy in 2.5cf ea so a total of 5cf net. You could give that HDC315 anywhere from 4-4.5cf and be happy.
Just really up to you man. Neither setup will disappoint.
