Sundown SA SEALED

Just looking for a simple daily setup that hits hard and has average sq. I am not willing to loose much trunk space in my 2005 Impala and don't want to increase the weight by making a big ported box. Will 2 12 Sundown SA's in a sealed box forward firing be a good plan? I love spl but not willing to give up the trunk and still would like to take the box out easily without ripping it apart. Most of the people that use the SA's are ported thus I haven't heard any that are sealed.

Everything I've read about them since they came out has said not to use them sealed

Was just wondering why Sundown's website lists enclosure recommendations for sealed setups because I have heard they aren't all that great in them. Just needed to make sure before I choose these subs

I have read one good review of a high end SQ install involving one SA-10 in a sealed box. The car install got a good review as far as subjective listening and other measurements are concerned. So I suspect that SA-10/12 can sound good in an SQ install if configured correctly. However, in a sealed box, it may or may not satisfy your SPL goals. I'd consider one SA-12 in a ported box instead of two sealed. Two sealed will probably use up over 2cu ft external gross. That's probably not too far from a ported box for a single subwoofer. Being in a ported box, it can probably hang with the dual sealed while costing and weighting less due to only one driver.

Thanks for the input zako. I have around 1500 watts to play with and would really like to try 2 12's. I had an AQ SD2.5 12" ported that got pretty loud in the same car but wanted to try something new. Could someone recommend me a good pair of 12's that sound good sealed and get loud? How about FI SSD's compared to Sundown SA's
