Sundown or Jl Audio Amps

So I recently picked up a used Alpine mrp m1000 amp but as soon as I went to install it I noticed things wrong with it so I returned it to Best Buy. Anyway now I'm looking at other amps specifically Sundown Audio SAX 1200 D or the JL 500/1 v2 amp. Are these good choices? I'm slightly afraid they are not going to put out enough because they are rated less than the alpine I picked up but what do you guys think? I'm not sure the sub yet but most likely a Hertz Hx300, a 12 jl w6 or a Sundown audio SA 12. All are rated at about 600 watts rms. Would these amps work great with one of these or should I look into someting else?

JL is pretty equal rated, sundown tend to be under.. well subs are atleast would not be of any suprise of the amps are 100ish more RMS then whats rated

go with the sundown you wont be dissapointed,they will put out and take more than rated unlike jl which is overpriced and thats it

I recently just sold my JL setup 500/1 v2 and W6v2. I went with a Sundown SAZ-1500d v.2 and a SA12. No regrets whats so ever. Half the price of JL and you get more then JL can offer in SQ and SPL

I feel the need to jump in again before this turns into a JL bash.

If you were offered the same power for the same price, either amp is great. close your eyes and throw a dart. You will be happy.

The sundown is great because of its durability, great customer service and ability to handle a low impedance.

The JL is great because of its technology and R&D. Same power from 1 to 4 ohm is awesome and can be very useful.

If you are looking for more then 1k, sundown all the way as they have bigger amps but if its 1k or under, either will do well.

and I wasn't bashing JL I really like they're equipment. Up until a few months ago I never heard of Sundown. I did some research and read some get things and bad things. Just like what hear about JL, Alpine, etc.

Check out DB-r electronics. They offer new and refurb Sundown amps at a great price.

Refurb sax-1200 for $220 and still carries a 1 year warranty.

Yeah well its easy to find used jl amps on craigslist. I even just found a 500/1 for about 250 and the guy said he bought it in January and hardly uses it but got layed off and needs money...soooo I'm thinking about that. If I go new I'm leaning towards sundown even though I just recently heard of them but it seems everyone on here only has great things to say about them and other places I've searched its very hard to find something bad about them. Although I'm a little skeptical just because I've never actually seen or heard one in person. One more thing is it worth me looking into the new Alpine mrx m1000 amp? It seems pretty good however reviews have been so so

Also I'm definitely going for a SQ setup. I'd like it to be loud but SQ is the main focus. As for other brands I'm open ears these just seem like two top amps...

from what i've heard those alpine amps get very hot! and cut out at high volumes, but could be a bad setup.

I had a JL 500/1 that i loved! great because it worked no matter what my ohm load was and had a very clean sound and played it for hours and never even got warm

I've heard nothing but good about the sundown amps, though i have no personal experience with one. the sundown will leave you more room to upgrade later tho.

p.s. that JL 500/1 for 250 isnt all that great of a deal. I got mine for $100. I say talk him down so more. Nonetheless amazing amp!

U know how many amps they have on the market?

One on thd best mono amps you can get are the arc and soundstream class g/h amps

Wow! 220 for a refurbished Sundown SAX 1200. Should I get the refurbished? Both the jl 500/1 new and sundown sax new cost about 400. I'm leaning towards the SAX just because it leaves more doors open to the future because at 2 ohms it puts out about 750 rms and 1 ohm i think 1200 rms. However I don't really know much about Sundown Audio cause I was just introduced to it. Maybe I should throw a dart blindfolded as grimreper said lol...thoughts?
