Sundown going big!!

Nope, I just posted a preliminary picture on my forum. I haven't tested the prototype yet or anything, so pricing is not available at this time - nor is an ETA.
Pricing will vary based on options - as I will have a few different coils, spider options, etc available for these when they are ready for production. Still quite a bit of testing to do on them before the design is even finalized.
Just wondering, how tall is the motor ?

jacob that looks f-in sexy...an azz shot right out the gate...sweeeet

that has to be WELL past the point of negiligable(diminishing) returns as far as motor size...
Nah //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif It is sized accordingly for the goals in mind for it. The most important factor vs. the Nightshade motor is the extra 1" width on the slug. The height of the stack is necessary for clearance for the longer coil that will be optional. Back and top plates were as thick as needed for the goals as well.

A bit of raw weight can be skimmed off the back and top plates for production - the outer corners of the back and top plates don't have much of any magnetic activity. They can be beveled off like you see on many drivers to take several pounds off the driver. A bit silly to start machining it to look pretty on the first prototype, though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also, it's got a pretty wide gap - so a fairly huge motor was needed. The standard coil is a fat 8-layer round and a flat with even more layers will be tested as well for SPL burp applications.

Speaking of the new btl, where the hell are pics of it?? havent people been getting them besides that meade guy?
also sundown, this subs gonna be a 3 inch coil correct?
I've seen quite a few pics of the new BTL floating around - pretty wicked looking.

Anyway, yes, this prototype uses a 3" coil - if it meets the design goals it will have a 3" coil for production. If not, I will re-design for a 4" coil.

well, now that makes a little more sense.. And also makes it a lot more interesting.
