Sundown E8 blown?

These little subs are actually very reliable. I have been playing with them for a few months now testing their mechanical limits. The spiders and leads seemed to be the draw back on the originals but the newer parts seem to have rectified this.

I will start to carry extra recone kits in case anyone needs a repair or wants to upgrade to the newer soft parts. I will offer this at a rather inexpensive price as well.

There is really no reason to be steered away from Sundown simply because of this instance. I am willing to help out in any way I can and Jacob has always been a stand up guy when it comes to service and answering questions.

Exactly - stop trippin everyone. Im still buying 2 of them just to have them sitting around lol.

I just had it out of the box and all I could see wrong was one of the lead terminals had moved round so was pointing towards the cone much more than the other, I turned it to a mirror position of the other terminal, tightened it and put the sub back in... sounds the same though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif , scrapeing/farting below 50Hz.

Looks like it will be gong to Woofercooker for a re-cone and will multiply into 2 when it comes back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I know this isn't a 5KW system making ears bleed but I'm on a budget and have to keep my rear seats and have a truck bed full of bikes all the time, horses for courses.

I appreciate the help from Jacob and Mike, don't think I'd have got that from the 'experts' at one of the high volume manufacturers.

I'm just updating this so anyone interested will know.

I took the sub out again and had a good look and as my kids had managed to get my snow shovel under the seat and it has damaged the surround, I wasn't worried about hurting the soft parts, it has to go back to woofercooker for a re-cone now anyway.

I pushed the cone right in and just as Jacob suggested the spider has broken free for about 3/4" and that seems to cause the trouble.

The moral of this story... don't be a cheap *** like me and buy the re-coned ones in the first place //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yep - a loose spider will make all sorts of noise. Had you not had the surround damaged that could be easily fixed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thought that might be the case, and the suround wasn't that bad, but I thought I'd get it boxed up and off to woofercooker so it (once refurbed) and the other re-furbed one I bought from him will be in the same known condition when I get them in the new box.

I'll only be running about 300-350 to the pair but I'd like them to be in the same condition from day one in the new box.

Can't wait for the new pair to be in the new box.
