Sundown E8 blown?

Thanks again,

I will check tonight.

If it's not a fimple case of lead slap (it think it's way to noisy for that) I may send it to Woofercooker, then I'll get a pair back with matching parts... ready to rumble.

:/ i just ordered 2, hopefully mine holds up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif can these take 250rms?
From what everyone else has been saying about these, mechanical limits are all you really need to worry about. Jake himself said the sub will rip itself apart before the coil fries, so as long as you use common sense and can tell when the driver is being stressed, you'll be fine.

maybe I'm just lackinig a little common sense then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Only thing I can think that was not ideal on my set up was the furthest out part of the cone (the donut !? ) was only 2" from the carpet...

Too close?

Watched Jacob's video, it took a whole lot of mains current to fry that one!

I heard alot of good things about these, now im uneasy, and may go in another direction.
that would be unfortunate, you would let one instance where a used sub with an unknown past and unknown issueyou sway from buying one of the best $ for $ 8" subs available. I think you are being a little fickle.

I wouldn't worry much about one speaker out of several hundred sold - but maybe that is just me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Statistically they are very reliable - I have done just about anything you can imagine to them here at the shop. One of the only things that can break is the spider landing glue - and that takes alot more than 200-watts to do in the suggested enclosure size. One could possibly break the glue on an original batch E8 without a subsonic filter in a ported box - but it has proven extremely uncommon even then.

We also improved the landing glue with the latest batch - specifying a nearly ridiculous amount of epoxy to hold the spider down to the basket. Works VERY well - we had six hooked up to a 3000D on 19 volts and they held up pretty well:

Love...and lets be honest...that's all you really need //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Best one all day!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

search for my review on the E8's and that may stear you back in.
I'd agree with the comments above.

This is a hickup in my plans, I intend to get this one fixed, if there is indeed a problem worse than the lead slap.

I have been very impressed with what this sub can do and again as said above, I'm a cheap *** and bought this first one used, with unknown history too.

You can see Sundownz has offered lots of quality help above and Woofercooker has PMed me with options. Don't let my issue put you off.

I already have a second one on order with Woofercooker, my plans for a ported box with 2 are still GO! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
