Sundown 1200d Blown....

Anyways....I was resetting my gains with my oscope I just got in yesterday, and had the pos and neg leads hooked to the scope and the test tone playing. Then I picked the oscope up and the probe detached from the speaker wire and the pos touched the neg lead of the amp... I saw a spark and the amp turned off but all of amps fuses were intact. Then I turned radio off and back on to get amp to turn back on and all fuses popped. I then replaced them (knowing that it was all over but I thought wth)and returned power to the amp and turned radio on again and the amp popped a few times and started smoking so I turned it off. The fuses did not blow. I took the cover off the amp and got some pics but I do not see anything burnt on it, of course I am no amp expert.

If anyone needs any closer shots or anything just LMK...

hmm is right... I wasn't clipping it at all surprisingly. I just got an oscope in yesterday so I turned the gain down all the way and proceeded to set it with that last night and come to find it the unclipped gain level was more than what I had it previously...Today I was resetting it to see what effects mediaxpander on my 9887 had on the signal. How bad it clipped it in other words but did not get that far before this happened....

A failed part doesn't always explode -- the incident with the lead coming out and shorting could have taken out a part in a non-dramatic fashion,

^^ Yea thats what I'm hoping. I plan to send it out to ampjunkielikeme tom or soon just to get it back working...But if I can't then I'm out of bass for a while and am gonna work on my front stage....bc for some reason I've never been too much of an idiot with that...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif and yes worstenemy you did....

i do super computing overclocking with liquid nitrogen and countless time ive had the multi meter leads touch shorting out a $1000 part so dont feel to bad m8
