Sundown 1000D weak bass??

I finally installed my 1000D last night and I have to say it doesnt seem very powerful.

Befoer I installed it I had my sub (Arc12) running off the rear two channels of an ED Nine.4 bridged, which is about 150 watts @ 4ohm according to ED...

Now I have it hooked up to the 1000D, which should be putting out 300+ at 4 ohm and the bass is nowhere near as loud. It doesnt seem to move the speaker with much authority at all... (This is NOT an ED plug, but it seemed louder and harder hooked to the Nine.4)

I have adjusted the gains, played with the bass boost and LPF. but I just doesnt seem to be hitting. I really expected it to be much louder with double the power.

Is that a D2 sub ? Wire it to 1 ohm.

why would it be 300+ at 4 ohm, to be honest ive never had one hooked up at 4 ohm, but if it does 1100@ 1 ohm, then it would do like 250-300 at 4 ohm, according to my ohms law arithmetic

yeah id make sure you wired the sub right. on 300 - 1000 watts it should be decent man.

Agreed and why would you buy that amp just to run it at a 4ohm load? You gonna add more subs or something?

i think a that sundown should be ran at lower ohms. if it'll put out 1000w, why not use it?

im guessing either the subs not wired right , a setting on the amp or HU needs to be set or both.

Yes, I know I can wire it to one ohm, and I will try that. I just expected to hear MORE bass from the 1000D at 4ohm since it puts out double the rated power of the amp I was using before.

well going from 150 to 300 isnt a whole lot of difference, should be louder though. Check all your settings, make sure you dont have the sub wired 180* out of phase, I also would run it at 1ohm

Ohm's law only applies to Ohmic components, which amplifiers are not.

Seems out of phase to me....but perhaps just try wiring it again *shrug*

What is it going to be out of phase with? Itself? The frontstage?

Neither of which will effect loudness. You only get horrible output from 2 subs being out of phase.

You have to be kidding me if you believe an amplifier is an ohmic device. Remember I am studying EE, have studied FETs, you are studying business or IT or some other easy crap like that. FETs are not ohmic, therefore things built around them are also not ohmic. Best explanation is that amps are more efficient at higher ohm ratings thus turning more of their input power into output power.
