Ok, I have a 1975 Monte Carlo, and I want to get some really extreme bass going in it..
Right now I have a pair of 12" Phoenix Gold Sapphire's, I got them off a friend for free, and im running them off of a Rockford 3001 amp.. so their getting 206.5 watts RMS each. They are in an untuned Bandpass Box, facing eachother, and one sub the rubber surround is cracked and torn a bit. Right now they sound nice inside the car, but you can't hear them very far away..
What im looking at doing is getting 3 Kicker Solobaric L7's, and putting them in a ported box, then running them off of a Rockford 20001db amp. What I need to know is if this is a good idea, and if so, what should I tune the box to, in order to get a good flat eq response?
Also, am I going to need an extra alternator, or battery, in order to power that amp, as well as an amp for my component speakers?
And with Dynamat and stuff, is it intended for getting the best SPL inside the car, or does it improve the bass sound and volume outside the car too?
Oh another question, what is the difference between 2Ohm and 4 Ohm subs? I understand that 2 Ohm can handle more power, because of less impedence, so what I wonder is why would anyone bother with 4 Ohm? Do each have certain benefits or something?
Sorry I'm a newbie to car audio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/help.gif.cee8f684da1ba626487a8bc51152e1ec.gif
