Hey, I have a 2002 Mustang and I might be able to help you out with your budget probs. I have no idea how big your trunk is compared to mine due to the new body styles, but it can't be totally off. I spent $400 INCLUDING WIRING and I got the following setup in my car right now =] (just got it put in last week).
(1) 12" CVX ($150 shipped - eBay NEW)
(1) Kicker 750.1 ($150 shipped - eBay USED)
(1) 1.7ft^3 SEALED box ($29.37 - Home Depot)
Wiring ($80) because I had to buy a hi-lo converter, to integrate it with my Mach 1000 factory upgrade stereo, and they supplied wiring.
I do not know how loud you are trying to go, but this CVX is amazing enough for me! It bumps, doesn't sound bad, and get pretty loud (for me). Let me know if you have any questions!
