I recently installed a Kenwood KDC-X399 in my daughter's 2003 Honda Civic. The feature set is great and the bluetooth integration with her phone works well. However, I'm totally disappointed by the display. It's almost impossibly dim, even with the brightness turned all the way up. Even with the car in the shade it's hard to read. I called
Crutchfield and described the issue and they said "It's the way most everything is these days - that unit is about as good as anything else out there." The 15 year old Sony I have in my Isuzu is way more readable.
Any suggestions for a unit with a more readable display? I'm willing to pay more and could even go to a double-din size if it gets us a better display.
