Suggestions for a Sedan under 20k?

What breaks exactly?
The CTSv will spit out rear ends, neighbour went through 2 in under a year and he wasn't all that hard on it.

Driveshaft is a joke.

The lesser CTS's like to leak oil, everything electrical likes to malfunction, plastic trim rattles the moment you drive it off the lot and don't forget your timing belt.

GM never did get the water pump issue worked out and you still have that old a$$ oil cooler.

The rear end is the only issue I ever heard of on the V's.

That can be remedied pretty easily.

Not enough to disqualify it as one of the best sport sedans ever IMO.

You know what they say about opinions.

It's a cheap plastic hunk of crap with a motor. No refinement what so ever and with poor handling thrown into the mix. The front end floats at speed and turn in is so vague that it's a hit and miss affair.

Maybe with some struts and sway bars that thing will get closer to a decent car but you might as well get a BMW.

Anyway, they tried to make an econo-car into an Autobahn cruiser but failed badly.

Now I know you are an idiot.

Didn't expect flattery from you but thank you.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Seriously. I had that car.

It is definately one of the best handling/ best riding sedans out there. I don't see where you get your information.

The only gripe I had was some axle hop when launched hard and when coming down from 150 or so MPH there was a slight vibration in the drivetrain (driveshaft maybe?)

I don't think I read a bad review on the car.

Boris you are right on. Gump It may be the best car to you (nothing wrong with that). But what are you comparing it too. My brother built one with suspension mods, supercharger, brake kit and it was sweet but at 80k there is so many cars that are better. The cts also eats up brakes like crazy. An escalade is the only cadi that I would buy.

I got my information from driving 2 different examples.

We took them on a little back road run that included some interstate up to Sebring. Cadillac had a little open track weekend event (they even brought out their big guns and took some people on rides), we got to play on that legendary circuit. I tagged along with a friend of mine (an older gentleman) who used to race and has a way of getting into these events.

A 3rd CTSv that I got to abuse on a regular basis belonged to my neighbour.

I have taken that car out on many occasions and knew it quite well.

The happiest day in his life came when the dealers tow truck pulled up and hauled the CTSv away.

He now has an M5.

Back to the topic! Stay away from Mercedes they are not what they used to be. way too many parts from a Dodge (and vise-versa). I loved benz's owned plenty of them but they don't drive or last like they use to. Want to spend 100k it will be a totally different story.

The audi is a great driving car but it will be in the shop A LOT!

Even though Jap cars aren't "as much fun" as a German the bang for buck is so much better. American anything you can pretty much forget it. They need a bailout for a reason!

No doubt the m5 is better but it is 30 grand more.

I don't know what you drove that made the CTS-V feel like a handling pig but the car I currently drive (Honda Civic SI Mugen) has a very tight highly tuned suspension and to me the CTS felt even better...Power on in the curves and the back end was very very predictable and could be guided with laser precision by throttling the rear end around.

The interior wasn't anything to rave about but was much better than anything I'd seen on an American car.

The CVS-look alike coupe is another cadi I'd buy... as well as the old school Devilles.

The only Sedan I'd buy is an Lexus IS300.

Forrest,

I'm not saying that the CTSv has no place in the world. It's a decent enough 4 door with a great motor but it's nothing special. Pontiacs G8 (Holden Commodore) has much more potential and is better built).

If they were under $30K new I'm sure they would have sold well.

Now don't get me started on front wheel drive. I know Honda is trying but that's just too much to ask of those front tires.
