Suggestions for 99 Civic Install

I am seeking advice on equpment for an install in my 99 Civic. I already have an Alpine 9835 head unit.

I would like to save most if not all of my trunk space if possible, but I love clean, deep bass response. Can I get such response from a 6.5 component system (front doors) and 6x9's (rear deck, enclosure if necessary)? If so, what kind?

If not, I guess a single 10 wouldn't hurt. What kind can you suggest and how much response can I expect from a single 10 in woofer? Also, where should the sub be located for maximum output (i.e. corner, rear facing, etc)

I would like to use a single amp with as small a footprint as possible to power the whole system. As far as my musical tastes are concerned. I listen to hip-hop, alternative, and classic rock.

Any help and advice is welcome, thx.

Get a nice 6.5 set, Jack Frost still has his bostons iirc and those would be great.

I have bostons in my civic and love them.

As far as the rest, what exactly are you looking for? Really loud, or clear bass.

my friend has an 05 civic, different im sure, but still a civic, and we planned on putting some comps up front, and had 2 options for bass. 1) get a pair of free airing 6-8" woofer, and mount them to the rear deck. or 2) i was going to fiberglass an enclosure in the space behind his wheel well on the side of the trunk for a single 10", and he would loose almost no space.

the the first option, you could mount the amp to the back of your back seat, and take up virtually no trunk space.

to power it, just get a 4 channel amp, and bridge the back channel to a sub. my friend was going to get a profile, but thats just because he is cheap. lol.

he actually ended up buying a new guitar instead though, and we never went through with it.

Here is a link to my '05 Si :http://forums.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=125390

The amp is a sweet 3-channel # that will power comps and a sub nicely- it can be bought from xtant refurbished for $200 http://www.xtant.com/direct/details.cfm?PN=403AR

Get a nice set of components and spend some money on sound deadening the doors. Is it a sedan or a coupe? if a coupe unplug the rear speakers and forget they exist because you have to gut the interior to get them out. (remove rear quarter panel trim etc. as they are screwed in from the top) A good 10 and some comps will kick *** with that amp I recomended. I also love the Dls components- but you didn't mention budget- so anyway there is a start.

Thanks Bike, that's a nice install. How loud is your sub? I don't have the hatchback so I don't know how much 100 watts will give me. What kind of amp would you recommend if I need more power?

My Civic is a coupe, I am looking to spend roughly $150-$200 for a comp set. Are the Infinity Kappa's or JBL Power any good?

My Honda is in the sig.

My factory Honda 6x9's had decent bass off just the head unit. I went with 5.25's in the doors since nice 6" speakers are hard to find and 6.5's won't work without cutting the doors all up. My install looks very clean! I went with the Focals in the back too. I still have some trunk left with my 12! Sounds really good!

If you get a dual voice coil sub, you get about 250wrms off the xtant into 2ohm- which is plenty for a sub- mine kicks major ***. I like the infinities, but they seem to lack in the midbass area. I put a set of Polk DB6500's in my wifes Element and they sound really good and don't have too deep a magnet- that's one of the best things about my Dls Up6's- they have a tiny magnet so they are easy to fit, but they run about $350. The Polks http://www.crutchfield.com/S-x2R2abDm8j5/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?wm=fp&I=107DB6500&g=410 play pretty well down to 63 hz, so that should give you plenty of midbass, even off a HU if you want, but that xtant is a screamin' deal- even if you don't want to do a sub right away. You could get basically any dual 4ohm voice coil sub and run it all day on that amp. You won't win any SPL competitions, but it will be a great sq system. You could do these: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-x2R2abDm8j5/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=410&I=500SPS171A

and this:http://www.crutchfield.com/S-x2R2abDm8j5/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=520&I=2065C10VR4

that should make for a nice setup
