Suggestions for 2000+W w/ stock alternator

I'd really have to see a setup like that. One battery (stock deep cycle or other wise) and stock alternator on 6k watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
He is referring to burping in street classes, not daily driving...

I don't plan to run full volume pink noise during my entire commute to and from the office. And, I'll replace the Optima if it dies under the constant pull/push.
So, reading these forums I see so many people willing to stake their reputation on saying that "with a 2500 Watt Orion Class D amp you'll need a HO alternator plus all the goodies, but a 2000 Watt Hifonics XX class D amp will do its job just fine with minimal electrical system upgrades, if any".
When you start talking about a TRUE 2k watts, I just cant see you running a stock alternator and one battery. I want to see these types of setups... I'm in the works in getting an orion 2500d, and I KNOW I'll need a 2nd battery on a stock 80 amp alternator.

The amp will draw from the alternator first whatever it can get, anything more it will take from the batteries... so count on it at least killing the battery first (if the alt cannot keep up) with the hard working underpowered alternator RIGHT behind it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

the hifonics xx hercules(TRUE 2kw+) it will do just fine with your yellow top and big 3... just add an HO alt later down the road for a boost of power.. you will probable get 12v-14v an its rated at 13.8v. i should be ordering mine in a while so i hope it can live good with 110a alt and a yellow + the big 3

That's a tough pill to swollow..... what kind of car? how many extra batteries do you have?

I personally think you'd kill the amps if you don't/can't feed them enough current

If he gets a TRUE 2k watts he will need to either add batts or a h/o alternator. When he hits a bass note that sucks 180 amps where will they get the juice from? He'll eventually kill is battery, alternator AND amp if he continues to drive them with low voltage...

you want a amp that will give you 2k watts @ 12 volts go Orion 2500d. None of the others mentioned (that I saw) will give you a SOLID 2k on 12 volts. (orion will do 2500 @ 13.8 NOT 14.4v so @ 12 volts you'll be looking at least 2k)
2 D31s = 2 optima bluetops + redtop under hood. I helped build his setup, and yes, it all works absolutely fine.

I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger and buying the Hifonics XX Hercules. That amp has stayed near the top of my shopping list for over a month.

Others I've considered/am considering (and comments):

pair: Alpine MRD-M1005

* this is a very close consideration too. Would keep my "mostly top-end Alpine" thing going.

AutoTek MM 2000.1d

* not sure what I think of the appearance. It's gotta grow on me

Cadence ZRS-9 or ZRS-10

* HUGE! Where would I mount that thing?

pair: Lanzar Opti2000d

* I still hate the non-Opti Lanzar amps enough that the name leaves a bad taste in my mouth

* probably too long to fit 2 where I need them

SoundStream PCA2000d

* seems pretty good

pair: US Amps DE-1000

* where to buy?

Go to http://www.usamps.com and go to the dealer locator and find a dealer near you. If not then click to contact a sales rep. I would go with the USAmps AX1000DE or with a single USAmps Merlin MD2 rated at 1521w at 1ohm @.1% THD and it was benched at 1900w

Tough one. I'm extremely tempted.

I'd like to keep my system to relatively few "brand names", so I'd end up buying 1 or 2 sub amps and a multi-channel amp for the rest, if I went with the US Amps stuff (which is incredible equipment). But, that means I'm in the hole another $2000+ dollars just for amps, and not even going with their top end stuff. That's a big hit!

But, on the other hand, if I went with a Hifonics XX amp for my sub, it's very unlikely I'd go with a Hifonics XX amp to push my main speakers. So....

I've literally been researching this dilemma since early this morning with hardly a break, and every spare minute for about the last week (since I blew my 1-week-old MB Quart RAA1000 amp).

I'm ready to drop some pretty good cash, but my SUV has some absolutely disgusting acoustics, so I don't want to waste money when considering the sound quality across the board will never be extremely good.

Why is that?

very low frequency reproduction does benefit from high-sound-quality amplifiers, but nowhere near as much (or as noticeable) as the full-range of the mains. For those, I'd opt for an amp that was more sound quality oriented for the non-subwoofers in my system. Xtant, Zapco, US Amps, Tru, etc. if I had the inclination to drop the bux.

Honestly, I haven't heard a system running the new and much improved XX line from HiFonics. It's probably better than most anything in its price bracket. So, even for mains, it's not absolutely out of the question. For subs, though, it's really hard to beat the value of the HiFonics XX series, without a doubt.
