suggestions comments and tips for kicker 15'' L7

hey im new on here and to the audio thing. i just got a l7 from my brother, its a 1000w 2 ohm deal. im not looking to spend the 678 dollars i was quoted for from an audio place for a 700w amp and their wiring kit. (installed)..

i guess what im asking is if there is a cheaper route that isnt so harsh. maybe some suggestions on an amp manufacturer that is good enough quality to push the sub. i dont need competition, just decent. i do understand that given the type of sub i was given threw me into the deep end.
