Sudden Dimming

I currently drive a talon and im running 2 1200W subwoofers and a 1000W amp. My stereo worked fine until recently. It seemed like i could turn it pretty much all the way up and had no problems. Recently i have been noticing that my lights are dimming on base hits at only around 10 volume. I checked the ground coming from my amp and even put on a new connecter and that seems fine. I dont really want to install a cap because from what i have heard they do more harm than good. I was thinking something got shaken loose from the base but again, the ground/power seem fine. Any ideas what is wrong? did i damage the battery or something?

I also live in wisconsin, and if its been as cold there as it is in madison, then aybe the batt froze? Do you let the car sit out at night? Try runnign a multimeter on the batts and see what there sitting at. there at a good solid 12v or more, try getting the alternator tested

^^^agreed...start with some voltage testing...chances are that your battery is going to sh!t

Meh don't own a voltmeter or anything of that sort to really test it. Yeah it's been freezing in wisconsin but will my performance pick up a lot along with the weather as it heats up?

I bought my car used so i am not really sure when the battery was changed. It never has problems starting my car though and it has been cold as hell up in wisconsin (like -5 the one day i think... blah)

take the auto to an autoparts store and have them test the batt..

and while you're there, you can buy a cheap dmm for like $30 for future testing

Hmm so any other ideas of what the culprit can be besides the battery? Ill have to get that tested on friday. What else besides that and a bad ground could cause dimming though?

maybe you have a dying diode array in the alternator
