Subwoofers for Metal/Death Metal/Hardcore/Etc.

Honestly , an all pioneer setup wouldnt make you happy unless you spent a shit load and got the great expensive pioneer stuff.
Go to woofersetc or onlinecarstereo.com , look into Diamond or ID ( Image Dynamics ), Get 6.5 Components up front and amp for those and you really should ditch the rears or put some power to them atleast.
i like the brands you mention, however, pioneer isn't bad equipment. if the system is designed correctly from start to finish, it can sound good and get loud.

Well, I don't have a set budget yet, but the cheaper it is the better. Is it possible to get a decent little pioneer sub, amp, and box for under $350....that's pushing the price tag, so anything over would be iffy to me. This won't be bought right away, but I want to make sure saving up for it would be worth it?

simplest, cheapest way, is to just amp the fronts you have on the front 2 channels, of a 4 channel amp. run the rears off the deck, not amped. get a cheap 10 in a box, and run that off the rear channel of the amp.

I'm curious as to what would be the benefit of amping the speakers really? I mean, I know it let's them get louder...but I don't have any trouble getting the speakers to go loud enough. I get to 40 on the volume knob at most out of a possible 63 I think. And why would you amp the front over the back, or the back instead of the front? I'm sorry I don't know much about this, but I'm really interested to know as well.

it will improve quality, and the amp will filter out the low notes, letting the subs handle that range of notes. it does improve sound quality. if it's too loud, you can turn down the gain on the amp a little.

edit: as for the rears, i personally find them unneccesary. some people like them. you don't want to give people brain damage in your back seat. in alot of vehicles, your head is a foot or 2 away from the speakers when sitting in the back seat.

Eh, well say I just want to leave the speakers as is. I mean, I don't need them to be louder, and I'm very impressed with the audio quality already. I may do that down the line, but a 10" sub to me sounds like it would suffice. I think as far as the low notes, the sub would do fine b/c the speakers don't go too low. I mean, they're nice, but the speakers sound more balanced to me, so I think they would be fine. I would really only need a mono channel amp I'm thinking, so could you guys recommend one of those and recommend a decent pioneer sub. I don't need a premier, but something that's decent with a bit of boom. I'm looking for more of a thump, than a boom.

Ditch your rear speakers, or run them on your deck power turned way down - then, Amplify your fronts with 2 channels of a 4 channel amp, then bridge the rear channels to power your subwoofer.

On an extreme budget, i'd probably go with a 10" kicker CVR in a ported box. In fact, that's what I used to have and it was ok for the price. The IDMAX is a nice sub, but it needs more power than you can afford.

It doesn't have to pioneer, but I'd rather it be. Idk, i guess I just have a pickiness to it. Do you think I would just be better off at that price point trying to find a bassier set of speakers rather than subs?

I mean I know I don't get the deepness that the sub provides, but metal usually doesn't get a lot of that deepness, that's why a sub was never that important to me. I'm kinda against the idea of getting a sub in my door though.

EDIT: Would I see a really big improvement alone just from getting my whole car sound proofed/dynymatted, etc?

using amps isn't just for getting loud, and the sub is for more than just the extreme low notes also. if you amp the fronts with a 4 channel, and run a sub off the rear, and just run the rear speakers off the deck itself, that's about as cheap of an upgrade as it gets, in sound quality and loudness. the all pioneer system i suggested earlier is your cheapest upgrade in sound, sticking all pioneer. they make a 10 in that model also. under 200$. the only cheaper option is just to amp the fronts and rears from a 4 channel, and stick a piece of deadener behind the front door speakers.
