Exactly. Take my word for it - go with the PA stuff, that's what they are designed for.

Plate amps are the expensive though, and normally run lower wattage then car audio amplifiers. Price per watt = Higher for plate amps than amps for car audio normally, am I right?

Hrmm... Look into the Crest stuff. I promise you will get the power and stability you need for such a venue. I ran it years ago and it *never* failed me. I have a Crest sitting in my livingroom right now as a matter of fact...

i'd get something like this in your case.... don't go for car audio subs in big areas like that like other said:
