subwoofer's for bowling alley

So, the boss man wants me to intall some subwoofers to complement the current setup. what we have now is 6, 10" MTX 2-way's along the celing. so i'll probably be intalling these up in the air. no amp so far, so i'm not restricted by any of that. the house itself is a little over 19,000sqft. what i'm thinking so far is possably 3

15's or 2 18's. i'll be custom making boxes to fit whatever i need. what kinda subs u think would work best for this, and do u think i should go sealed or ported. thanks for any help.

for large areas, do a folded horn. speakerplans.com or decware.com have plans.

the Wicked One from decware uses 10's or 12's. The House Wrecker and Imperial from them, 15's.

Know what pal, I'll save you *a lot* of pain here and suggest very strongly that you look at PA-based units - JBL, EV, Eminence, etc. Given the size of venue you need efficiency, low distortion and not-so-low frequencies.

PA subs only really need to go down to ~45Hz to sound good in areas that big. I would suggest you go poking around a few PA forums to get some feedback on what you can use.

i was thinking that at first. but some of the prices are steep. plus i'll have the local audio shop make the boxes just for hanging between beems.

Eminence isn't that bad. Decent quality drivers for the price. Remember, its efficiency and longevity you're after, not so much the lows. You wouldn't want to be climbing to the rafters to replace blown subs now would you?
