subwoofer terminal cup melted

the plastic is melted and now there is a poor connection. what is the cause of this?

i have a rockford p1000-1bd mono amp running a single Lanzar OPTI1232D 2200 dual 2 ohm watt 12" sub.

could be clipping, could be resistance issue with wire used, could be loose connection. post pics of amp and box and all that shiz

did some research. looks as if you have a bad connection you can melt the cup.

What size wire you got from the terminal to the sub? If its smaller than that going to the terminal that isn't good either!!!

check the wire make sure nothings bouncing around loose, no strands sticking out possibly touching other terminal

I'd replace the cup and make sure the connections are sound. And yes, a poor connection will cause excessive heat.

havent checked inside the box yet. i bet its loose

Sounds like a loose connection inside the box. If I were you I'd pull the terminal cup, seal off the hole with some MDF, screws, and sealer, and use bolt terminals. They generally allow better current flow with less resistance. Use a sharpie to mark the negative terminal if you go this route. It might look a little ghetto-rigged but it should hopefully work better. Best of luck to you!
