i have a soundstream rub2500d amp and it has 4 gauge speaker terminals so i purchased 8 gauge power wire to use on them it wont fir into the terminals on the t512 subs let alone trying to get two into one terminal to connect the two how is this done or what size speaker wire should i use for this setup please help

i was told by the local shop that if i dont use atleast 8 gauge power wire the wire will melt lol what about knuconcepts 10gauge do you think i can fit two sections of that into one push terminal

go to your local oriely auto parts store and get 5 feet of red 10 gauge wire and 5 feet of black 10 gauge wire. it will cost you about 10-15$ depending of store. then hook it up. youll be perfectly fine. audio shops always want you to spend that little extra bit of money.

or if you have the time to wait go to weldingsupply.com for any and all power/ground wire and speaker wire!

ok well i got the 8 gauge in there but had to trim a lil of the wire down and on the two terminals that connect the two subs together had to trim some off each is this ok or no

its fine. but as long as you didnt leave like one strand. lol. dont cut more than 40-45% of the wire away and i think youll be good.

EDIT: after reading about your amp and seeing it does 1700 rms, 2500 rms i guess its not that crazy. still seems like overkill though. if the 8 gauge wont fit and you have to trim half it off those terminals certainly dont seem that large... still say 12-10 gauge should be just fine. after reaing your post it was a little confusing so i thought you just misunderstood what the shop told you. carry on
