Subwoofer Quantity Vs Size

Hello there

Not sure if i'm posting this in the right spot or not.

I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra, so trunk space is limited in terms of sub boxes. I am deciding what subs to get, and have basically gotten stuck deciding on Quantity Vs Size (IE: 4 8" Subs vs 2 12" subs vs 1 15" sub).

I am also currently deciding on whether to get some SAs, or some CVRs, (i know many people think kicker is bad, but i have a bunch of other kicker stuff (not subs tho) and enjoy the quality).

I am really looking to have a crap load of sound with decent quality. I listen to mostly techno and some rock, but i love to grab a super bassy hip-hop/rap song with HUGE rolling bass and make the windows shake.

If it helps, i have a BAMF2000/1D

MAX - 2000

1 OHM - 1200 RMS

2 OHM - 900 RMS

4 OHM - 600 RMS

SO you would recommend 4 sa-8s over 2 sa-12s or 1 sa-15?
Yes. They will need less space, will take the power a lil better (maybe), are more versatile, and have more motor force! I think there is already a debate on here about sub size that has been going on for the last few days. Thats just my opinion. Some people only run certain sizes...

Not meaning to thread hijack.. but Im having a similar problem. Also, to add to what you said.. the SA 8s will handle power just fine. I have 3 on close to 1200W RMS each (3x rated) and they love it. They do get a bit warm, but I have beat the crap out of them for months and they still pound.

Trying to decide between 2 12" NS v1s or 6 SA 8 D2s. Both would be on the same amp.. a SAZ 3k at .67 ohms. I entered everything in winISD and according to it (and if I entered it all correctly) the 12s would be louder even with 75in^2 less cone area.

Why is that??

There is much more into it, then just the subs and the quantity. Thats why I didnt say they would be louder. :/

Smart man.

Well, Im going for loud. The nightshades would almost cost double compared to the 6 SA 8s because I already have 4 of them.

Im leaning towards the 6 8s. It will just look cool. Not to mention, if I want louder.. I would just add another amp. These 8s LOVE power. Its silly how much they will handle.

Coming from a Kicker person, those are the least favorite sub in their lineup. They are in no way sensitive, takes RMS to make them do anything. We have a guy that went from Comps to CVRs in the same box on 1500w and lost 2db because of the decreased sensitivity of the DVC. Anywho, he moved back to SVC subs and played with the box a bit to get it just as loud a few hz lower (he was tuned stupid high wasn't very musical)

In summation, if you do end up going Kicker on the woofers and it's too much power for Comps, try the CVX out. If you aren't bent on going round do some L7s or even Xs:eyebrow:

just get 1 skar 12 or 1 obsidian 12... get a better amp.. that bamf might do 700watts at 1ohm with a full 14.4volts.. the bamf isn't worth a **** from pa....

I have three Arc Audio 10's Id be willing to sell, they are considered a SQ sub but 3 of them together is just about perfect! Plus, a simple pre-fab sealed box is all you need to get the most out of them.
