Subwoofer Problems

I just got done building the enclosure for my 2 12" subs for my HT setup. I have a 500watt bash plate amp. Speakers hooked up for a 4ohm load into the amplifier. Plate amp plugged in/turned on. Subwoofer out from the Receiver split into the RCA which plug into the amplifier. I can't seem to get any output though. The amp lights up and the rest of the channels on the receiver will play but nothing out of the subwoofer out. I have never used the subwoofer out on the receiver or the plate amplifier either. Is there anyway to test each of these with a DMM? The only thing I can think of the amplifier is not receiving a signal but as I said I really have no other means of testing than with a DMM. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. This has been a week long project that is 99.9% complete, just not working. It's like climbing to the top of a mountain then tripping on a shoelace at the top and rolling the whole way back down -- it sucks =P please help

What type of receiver do you use? Some have a setting that can switch low frequency output from Speakers only, Subwoofer Only, or Both. You may have it set on Speakers only. Other receivers can turn the LFE channel on or off.

If your receiver is set correctly and it still doesn't work, try running RCAs from the receiver's L/R line-out to the sub L/R line-in using the BASH amp's crossover.
