Subwoofer noise

I just installed 2 type r 12" subs behind my rear seats in my avalanche but when i lay the seats down and u can see the sub, you can like hear the sub moving, of course i dont mean the bass it produces but like u can hear a fluttering i guess you could say? is this normal while a sub is still new?

nope or atleast not that im aware of, i noticed my mojo made this noise when it hit really low notes, perhaps its the box resonating at a certain note? but its weird how its really noticeable with the seats down versus up, but it sounds like its coming directly from the sub

Ported box? Where is the port facing if so?

the 2 subs ar like divided by the port so its vertical and its in hte center, but like i said i only notice this noise when the seats are down

i would say to some dergree they do. If it is port noise, it would be especially noticable in a truck cabin versus say a trunk car.

how big is the port and box?

the box is 1.32 cubic feet per sub so 2.64 about i might be off .01

Your box is pretty small for those subs. Build a bigger box and port and most of the noise you hear will probably be gone.

if your seeing alot of excursion it could be the mech x-max or below tuning. i get some wild sounds out of mine at 3" ex. and below tuning.
