Subwoofer Low Output Problem

Hey, so I am having a problem with my set up... I have 2 10” JL audio W0v3 4ohm subs wired in parallel in a JL Powerwedge box. I just installed a JL JX500/1D amp (500w rms @ 2ohm). I upgraded the power wire to 4g and installed new patch cables. My receiver is alpine cda-117. I was recently running one of these subs on an old Orion 300.2 amp only putting 150w to the sub to get me by. Since I’ve upgraded I have very little output from the subs. Extremely low sound from the subs until the volume is up to 20 on the receiver and the sound is then distorted ( I had better sound from 1 sub at 150w on the small amp). I have checked all my wiring to ensure the subs are in phase. Checked power, fuse, ground and changed the patch cables. Tried every possible setting on the receiver and adjust the LPF input sensitivity on the amp. If I turn up the sensitivity I get more but it’s not good. Running out of ideas and starting to think my source is bad on the sub preamp of my receiver. Any ideas?!?! Thanks!

Do a test and wire one sub out of phase. Also make sure the box orientation is proper. what car is it and how is it facing.

Ok I will wire one out. 12’ civic and the box is facing back, subs are at a 45 degree angle upward. The wedge likes to flip over standing straight up
