Subwoofer Grill question

I have http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Kicker-12-Round-Cast-Sub-Grille-05G12-/sem/rpsm/context/99794641/oid/118405/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do Grille on my Treo SSi 12. It is like 1/2" away from my surround. Is there a possibility that it could be hitting the grill? My sub pamplet says 27mm of "excursion" but it doesn't define excursion so I dunno if that is measured from cone or surround or where?

Are there any grills you guys recommend for cheap? I need to find a new one or make blocks for mine to sit on possibly? Any suggestions?

Where the grill goes over sub I can just barely fit a finger between sub surround and grill?

How about, go to the hardware store and get some 1/2" thick material, maybe 1/4", and cut a ring, and spray it black, and put it under the grill

Or just get some small sleeve for each mounting screw, or bolt so that the grill hovers over the sub. Painted or polished would look good.

aT home depot they actually sell either aluminum or chrome or something...

spacers... that are like a variety of diameters and lengths and you are bound to find something suitable there.
