Subwoofer gives off christmas tree smell

I have a 12" sub rated at 360 rms powered by a 500 rms amp. It plays good and everything but it gives off a fresh cut wood type of smell.

The box is brand new. The smell even concentrate in the car after it has been off for a couple off hours , but running the AC gets rid of it.

Could this be because the box is brand new?>

Indeed is not a bad smell when you know what it is.

I heard that when the sub is burning up I will recognize it immediately.

Burning smell is a cheesy scent. Fresh boxes smell great unless they use really cheap mdf.

Yep it will be a burnt smell lol. Absolutely horrid smell

Yes it will, It will take a good 2 weeks before it really begins dying down.

btw the 500 rms amplifier is good for the 360 rms sub, or vice-versa ?
