Anyone out there concerned with their subwoofer getting dust on the speaker? Wondering if any of you know where to obtain a thin covering or a protectant cover with a dust cover built in. Thanks for the Reply!
are you talkign abotu covering the outside of the cone to protect from dust?
subs are built with dust caps so that shit doesnt get in and ruin the driver. it would be a waste IMO cause you can always clean the sub off, and two it would add weight to the cone and affect the performance (even if only slightly)
Yea, I was referring to what I would call a "sock" to cover the external cone. My home subwoofer has this sock type of material that covers the entire box.
When you ride with the windows down, you will get some small particulate through the windows and the will reside on the speakers. I guess based on the response to this thread, dust covers are not important on speakers. Maybe I will just go with a grill to protect the speaker.
I have also emailed the manufacturer as to their recommendation. I tried to purchase a grill cover from a local audio store and it was too small to cover my Diamond.
Well, the dust shouldn't do any harm, but if you're talking about the black cloth that goes over your home speaker cabinets, and you'd really like to have some;
Speakers are built with dustcaps, thats what the bubble in the middle of the cone is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I would suggest turning the speaker around backwards if your worried about things hitting it and you can't find a cover to fit your particular driver.
