what sounds better in a car, with the subs facing the back of the car (so you can open the trunk and see the subs) or the other way (so if you open the trunk you see the back of the box)

what will hit harder/louder and sound better? i can pull down my back seats if that changes it.. right now ive got my seats down with my sub cones facing the back of the car where you can see them when you open the trunk.

What you will find, more than likely, is quite a few answers like "Try it a couple different ways to see what you like" or "it all depends on the listener and the vehicle".

But yes, in the future, search. Stuff like this is covered extensively on this forum.

faced forward with foldable seats yeilds more from the subs typically but not always, so try it both ways.

in a grand am id say toward the back of the car.. i just installed a setup in a grand am and i tried firing toward the seats pointing up and firing toward the rear and i had the best results with it facing the rear..

so the actual subs facing back so when you open the trunk, you can see the subs?

yes the subs facing the trunk so if you open the trunk you will see the subs or the subs will be facing you
