k,would i need a gain and bass control with 2 knobs instead of just one bass knob? is it neccesary?

common people!!lol

you want to make sure you get the bass knob made by your manufacturer otherwise it wont work right...the potentiometers inside are different even though the cable is the same.

Another option is to get the JL Audio bass Knob, it takes your RCAs and creates a sub output (And boots the RCA voltage by 1.7) and has a sweet looking knob.

just a bass knob, i don't know if theres such a thing as a gain knob and if there is... there shouldnt be. your gains should be set and left alone.
Many amps actually have gain knobs and not bass knobs, and it is better to have a gain knob. This way you're not boosting in the 40ish Hz range like a bass knob does and instead just increasing the output of your amp. If you have a good quality amp and subwoofer you don't want to be using a bass boost anyway - it just ruins the quality of the bass. Better to give the sub more power then a 'boost'.

Yea but these gain knobs are capped off by the gain setting at the amp itself. So you can only turn it up to how much u have it set at the amp. Thus no clipping is involved, and it works more like a volume knob.
