Subthump truck boxes. Easy question

I am just curious about the subthump boxes they have for ex cab trucks. I have one in my 03 Silvy SS and I noticed that it basically seals to the floor. There is no room for air to escape anywhere. Some suggest that this is bad and others say it doesnt matter. I am just curious could this be loading the sub up if the air isnt escaping out the bottom anywhere. If I flip my box upside down or tilt it up some it sounds 50x better. Seems logical but i dont want to be cutting away at anything if its not going to matter. Right now I dont have the time to build a box so I was curious if this could have anything to do with it?

i have an 05 ext cab chevy, played with all sorts of boxes in it, some friends have prefabs and stealth boxes and what not. as far as i am concerned, the performance that they get out of them isnt worth it compared the extra time it takes to make a custom box. have any pics of the box?

Yeah i have made a few different boxes for my truck and they turned out fine but I can never make up my mind so I always sell my stuff then decide I want another system. I got this subthump for a good price so I figured why not. I have been to busy this summer to really get time to build a box myself. I am happy with what i got but it just seems odd the difference it makes when the box isnt seated how it should be.

its open in the back of the box near the rear wall right?

It is but its not at the same time. It pushes up against the back basically closing that off as well from what i can tell
