Subs with different tuning?

Probably a stupid question, but I've never seen it asked before....would it be a bad idea to have two identical subs, in two separate ported boxes, tuned to different frequencies? For example, a 12" brand x model 1 sub in a box tuned to 33Hz, and right next to it an identical sub/box but tuned instead to 44Hz. We'll say both subs are powered off the same amp. I can see some problems, but I don't understand audio as well as you guys, so figured I'd ask!
