Subs under $180?

dont get me wrong the type R is a decent speaker, im just not impressed with its performance vs new dollar amount. and there very picky about what box's they will perform well in.. its my opinion that im not a fan of them lol.. the new autotek m12d4 is freaking amazing for a $60 sub ill show you video of 140db with glass flexing and roof waves.

I've seen to entry level comps flex a roof pretty good. A roof of a 1980 Honda. At $125 Type rs are the best 500-700 watt subs.. And $60 its a different game, but not much different.
this^^^^ and the nice thing will R's is they'll take a ton of abuse before they quit

140s are pretty easy to get to with the right box. The high qts and low fs give it an EBP of 26.6 which strongly leans toward sealed boxes. It would probably work in a ported box, but the box would have to be huge and would most likely lack transient response aka sound quality. So yes it can be done and will get loud in the right box, but it will most likely be a fart box.

If you shop around online, you can fine RE SE/X 12 for under $180, and SE/X 10 for under $140. Sonicelectronix has the later for about $125. 12" probably sound best in ~1.5cu ft sealed box add or subtract. This times two may be too much space. 10" seems better for dual setup.

You can also try to shop around for JBL1222/1224 or the 10 inch versions, which should be roughly in the same class with SE. These subs have mostly positive reviews.

LOL. We did just shy of 142 (at the dash sealed) 30 second music average on 1000W (stock electrical) with one of my 12's in a prefab Kicker box....out of a trunk. 140's are easy if you stay away from big box store brands.

Transient response is dictated by inductance and/or bandwidth of the subwoofer system, not box size.

I second the notion of Obsidian Audio subwoofers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Each 12" driver is $138.
