djman37, does that "cheap gain knob in your sig harm SQ?

will 4 6.5" subs have more output than 2 assassins? I would love the look of 4 6.5" subs, but it would cost $160. I am leaning toward 2 new assassins or 1 RL-i8.
the knob in my sig is a low-pass, gain knob. she ain't full-range and no, it doesn't 'hurt' the SQ.

I think the 4 drivers is still the best option from the criteria listed.

did a test with 2 rl-i8s that were tuned at around 33-35hz. it was placed on a expedition. Powered by a hifonics brutus. Metered it with a TL and that baby did a 140. I was amazed. Those little suckers can get loud!

Are you serious? Jesus christ your making me conteplate getting rid of my Type Rs and getting 2 of these! I dont even think my type Rs would hit a 140.

I would go a little bigger...my AA is in 1.3 cubes alone and it sounds amazing...I had four in a similar box (2.5ish tuned to 34) and the output had more to be desired...
what did u mean by this? that it was more then enough? or not more then what you desired?

sorry, sometimes things seem alittle confusing...

I say 2 MAW-10s ported, I have one in my regular cab truck in a sealed enclosure with the recommended 250w and it sounds amazing for what it is. The only sub I have to compare it to is a Rockford Fosgate P2 10 but it blew my old p2 out of the water in the terms of SQ. Plus Mark has great customer service!

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif I got an email a couple days ago saying the new assassins would be out in 2 weeks. I'm in the same boat as you man. But you should also include the TangBand W8-740C 8" Sub. I have one in my room off 100W and its verrry impressive.
ASSASINS ARE SUPPOSE TO COME OUT IN A DVC FORM... TO MY UNDERSTANDING.. I AM SCHEDULED TO PUT 4 IN.. ALSO IT SEEMS THAT THEY WILL BE ONLY SELLLING TO SUPPLIERS AND NOT TO THE GP... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif ..

Wrong.

"We will also still sell directly to our customers online through a specified online dealer. We feel it is important to continue to offer direct sales to the customers who helped make us who we are today. Again, more information about this will be made available when the website is updated."

Anyway, to the original poster:

I replaced my 12" L7 with 2 Assassin 8's. Both were in a ported enclosure. Both off the same amp. And I can honestly say the Assassins ALMOST keep up as far as output. But the SQ I gained was well worth the small amount of output I lost.

Plus they were $100 cheaper. I dont think you would regret going with the AA's. I know I dont.

Btw, MORE POWERRRRRRRRRRRR. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

new addition,

does anybody think i can run 4 of these @ 50W a piece?

TANG BAND W5-1138SG 5-1/4" NEODYMIUM SUBWOOFER

I would love to run 8 and i could at 37.5 W per sub, but i can't afford it. 4 of them would only be $100 and they're the perfect size. could 4 of these compete with, say, a cheap 12" like the MAW-12?

No, it had more to be desired...meaning the box was too small and it could have been louder...that was at ~.6 cubes each

I checked with PE, and 50W is ok to send to these. how would 4 of these sound? would they sound better or worse than a single assassin 10 or MAW-10?
