I smell the smell of new car audio equipment in my car when I'm cranking my shit. It's definitely not rubber and it doesn't smell acrid or bad perse.....it just smells like that smell when you open a box with a brand new sub in it.
It didn't worry me at first but I'd rather be sure its alright. Didn't want to waste new-thread-space so I'll derail its older thread

after a month or so of having my dd's, i still get that sweet smell when i get nasty with them. every single treo i had did that too, for a while, not like an hour or so. i think its just the glue though.

sry for trip post, but in relation to the amp, do you think that its possible that its hurting because I'm sending it 8ga wires and its designed for 4ga?

I know it won't hit its full potential with that kind of limitation, but it shouldn't be damaged or straining right? Just less powerful?

i had the same with my type r. Its probably cause its new. I ran my cvr off the exact same wattage and they were fine.

Also make sure u didnt have your ebrake on the whole time while u were driving

I had a smell with my Type-Rs in the first few weeks. Now I only get that smell when I'm playing at absolute full tilt. I don't know if it's the VC burning or what, but I saw turn it down when it starts to smell.

I had a 12" SX for a while but it was running off a RE 36.1 (I was throwing 1600 watts RMS at it) it definitly was a smelly one, I am assuming the voice coils were just getting very hot as the speaker would get EXTREMELY hot to the touch, I never did blow the thing though!

i had a smelly smell in my car a few days ago.

I forgot to switch out my 200a fuse cause i didn't need it with my rockford amp.

I fried a battery and a ground terminal, melted right off on to the trunk carpet.

luckly the 801s has 2 sets... it still works and i downed my fuse to 120.

check it all man.
