Subs Rattling

I have 2 different sets of subs. Both 10" DVC 4ohm and both have a rattle to them. One set is new and the others are used but no signs of tinsel slap or spider damage. Any ideas?

what subs are they? when does the rattle occur?

RD Studio 10's and ED 11Kv.2 10's. As soon as you get some volume to them they rattle like a bag of cans. They will rattle with test tones at all freq's the subs are tuned to.

I'm having the same problems. This site won't help. I replaced the wires in the inside. It worked for about 3 hours then it started again. Just take them out of the box make sure nothing is wrong. I did that and everything was ok. The only other thing it could be is your box.

Not the box. I inspected the hell out of it and found nothing wrong with it.

mine did this, but it was the seal around the gasket vibrating against the MDF. I havent fixed it yet, but a local shop said get some super thin weather stripping for under the gasket. (my subs came with a bare metal gasket)

Maybe the sub is bottoming out? Coil rub? Box specs?

sounds like your coil unwound.

Hello,

I have an idea what your problem might be. I had a Logic MDX12 that rattled like crazy, appeared to be fine. While playing it freeair I pushed down on the spider and it stopped. Let go and it came back. I worked my way around the spider and found a section that came unglued. I used some 2 part epoxy and it has been working great ever since then. Hope this helps.
