Subs not Firing

SO Ive hooked up a pioneer x1500.

Wired with a relay to defeat the video while driving issue.

Seems fine but my subs are now not firing. I wrapped the rca outs with bare wire to eleminate the alternator whine. I also wrapped the sub outs...Is this necessary? Could this be the problem?

The sub;s ground wire runs with the cables which I have spliced into the wiring harness ground.

could be a simple wiring issue given you've been messing with stuff. does the amp turn on? is the sub level turned up and sub out turned on in the deck? did you short out the outputs when wrapping bare wires? all it takes is one wire strand to touch the center pin and cause a short.

Yeah, I'll be interested to hear what it is.. -- My first inclination would be your remote wire crimp/wire got knocked loose behind the headunit, unless your amp is powering on. Otherwise it still sounds wiring related for sure. Obviously if the amp is on.. personally, I'd start by undoing what I did (In regards to wrapping rca's , etc..) and monitoring the subs for any "life". If you have a short going on with those RCA's those subs are never going to get the input signal from the RCA pre-outs. I doubt you damaged them with the bare wrap, you just may need to clean it up , if that's the culprit.

Of course checking the headunit for a "Sub setting on/off" is wise as well. Sometimes we spend a lot of time on things when the problem is literally a press of a button, but in this case I still think it's directly related to what you did behind the headunit.

You'll get it sorted.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Yeah the amp turns on...I actually had a problem with that before but got it sorted. I ran a new remote wire from the amp directly to the head unit.

THe sub is on in the HU. I wish that was the problem! I'd feel stupid, but it'd be an easy fix.

time to go over all your connections and make sure nothing has come loose. get a dmm and start taking readings.

someone else had a similar problem not that long ago and just turned out the sub wasnt connected inside the box. I suppose that should be #1 thing to check.
