for the time being turn down your gain a little bit cause clipping can kill amps as well

Your box is too small for the amount of power you're running, causing you to overdrive the amp in an effort to get louder, which results in dirty power being sent to the subs. Build yourself a larger, more efficient box that will allow the subs to move more with the same power that they're seeing right now.

i thought that if your running more power to the subs than what they are rated for you put them in a smaller enclosure?

Right, but you're running rated power, not a good deal more than rated which would warrant the smaller box(to an extent). I wouldn't have done anything less than 7ft^3 for the pair.

well i got mike singer to design the box for me but i geuss what happened is i told him i needed to have enough room to fit the batts amps and box in the cargo area of a 97 explorer xlt so he made the box smaller so i would have plenty of room for my amps and batts which i do, i actually have like 10 inches of room left that i could use for a bigger box to fit in
