Subs just stopped working?

I was driving along today on my way to work and my 2 12W3's just stopped working, they are wired upto a JL 500/1 amp. That seems to still be working. Its got power and everything. What could be wrong. What are the signs of a blown subs? Could 2 subs just blow at the same time or is it something completely different?

may be ur amp just got ****ed up just like am crapy amp did ,

if ur amp was mounted over or on any surface of the sub enclosure this might happen ,

because of the vibration of the wood, it change volume of the diodes n stuff inside the amp,

check if it works wit any other speaker or somethin, (n change it to HIGH PASS) may be it works that way , had same problem too

almsot two odd for two woofers to go at the same time...I would suspect the amplifier...use or nborrow someone elses amp and wire your subs up to it and see if they still work...narrow down to a pinpoint of what your problem is.

Bet it's wiring, RCA or amplifier.

Check your RCA's. I had something like that happen to me once. it ended up being that the rca's on my HU were fried.

I believe you would know if your subs where blown. I too think it most likely is the amp. I would go from your speaker wires back to the HU.

Ok, i've narrowed it down to either the subs or the sub wiring. The RCAs are fine, I tested them on another amp. And the amp works. I plugged an old subwoofer into it. Also when I plugged the subs into the other amp. They didn't work. So yeah. I hope the subs arnt ****ed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Something is wrong with one of the subs. The way they wired it at the shop I went to meant that if one stopped working. The other wouldn't work. I rewired it all and found that 1 of them isn't working. I dont think its blown. doesn't smell like it. Anyone know of any factory defects that affect W3's?

Couls be a burnt coild from wiring it in correctly

Test each sub separately on the amp that works and see if just one is fried. Or get a DMM and test the coils.

Ive had my amp blow on me for no reason it could be that. Id would be driving down the road and the subs would quit, so i had my amp tested and it wasnt putting out power. So you can always take it to an audio shop and have them test yer amp.
