subs in regular cab truck

Just make sure there is an inch or two between the seat and the surround of the sub at full excursion. It shouldn't sound muffled.

the black plastic surround on the sub, keep it off your seat, the sub will push out, and don't want it hitting the seat

and 4 8"s??? why not go with like two 10" CVT's?

what if i put speaker grills on them so that the grill would be against the seat instead of the surround possibly touching the seats? As far as the CVT's go i just havent been impressed with the reviews on shallow mount subs of any brand.

I have a 1991 Chevy Silverado std. cab and I have a single CVR12" right now. It is in a prefab sealed generic box on a 500 watt Bazooka amp, and it also have a generic speaker grill on . I have the seat on it and it doesnt sound muffled, but that probably because of the grill.

Yea, i will probably have to buy speaker grills for them. The bad part is that four of the kicker 8" speaker grills are $70 shipped. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Well go on Ebay and find yourself some 8" grills for like $10 a pair.

If they are hidden behind the seat most of the time, you dont need the kicker grills. If it is a show truck or you really care then it looks like they are like 20 each.

why not go with 4 10's? I was thinking about doing this before i got my current setup. jut curious why you went with the 8's unless the box is ported then i understand.

Having them hit the seat won't necessarily muffle the sound. But it will most definitely harm your speaker. The surround will become warn and a hole might start to form.

exactly what's happening to my memphis 12, old prefab box had it all the way against the seat and now the surround is messed. made a new box and it sounds alot better and saved the surround. well all thats being replaced today with a new sub once i finish my newest box today :p

look man, this may sound wrong to some, but it really worked great for me with several set-ups.build the box with an offset on the back wall of box.fire the speakers against the rear of the cab(about 1 in. from the wall, make the box about 4 inches shorter than the width of the truck and position it all the way to one side of the truck.that way you can slide seat all the way against the box without issue.this kinduv acts like a bandpass by doing it but it worked out awesome for me until i finally needed more and did a blowthru.good luck.

no, no pics but its pretty easy.just make it like a regular wedge truck box, only change is the back panel.i can draw you a couple of pics and mailem to you if you want.i dont know how to youse any drawing programs on here.i even did some slot ported boxes like this.and all these were in a reg cab s-10.you can p.m. me your address and i will mail you drawings of a few of my boxes that worked out well, from 1 -8 inch sub up to a 12 inch kicker.
