Subs in doors

I have an 06 4runner and just got a avic Z1 HU. I want to add some bass without putting a box in my back seat and wanted some knowledgable opinions.

I looked at some of the under seat subwoofers (alpine and pioneer) and they appear to be crap.

I have stock 6x9s in the front (with component tweeters at the top of the door) and 6.5s in the back doors. I was thinking about replacing the back door speakers (or front) with small subs. I think I could get 8in in there but if there is anything smaller it might fit easier.

Ive been told that subs in rear doors can cause "cancellation" issues. Ive also read other places where people have done it with good results.

With that said, what speakers would you recommend changing out (fronts or backs) and with what replacements.

Planning on putting an amp under the front seat that has to be under 2.5" high - would appreciate recs there as well.

Thanks

I would sack up and just get a small sealed 8 inch sub with a handle on the box and a grill so you can take it in and out easily and throw stuff on top of it. Put in this sub and lower the bass on your stock speakers and go from there. There are many subs that will work well in a sealed box that is .5 cubes which is about the size of a basketball. Trying to get good bass ie:55hz and below will be very hard to do in a door without putting massive sound deadning and work into it.

from what i understood in your post you have 6x9 in front and you dont want a box in the back so you want some subs in the doors correct?

if so, look into focal's 5'' and 6'' sub woofers. they get low and will beat pretty good in a deaden "sealed" door.. also may want to look at some 6.5'' components and try to get some that will play a little lower in fq range. i suggest again focal and look at the daytons over at partsexpress.com

Thanks for the responses.

Thoe earthquake SWS seem perfect - now it would be up to getting the door sound deadened?? I talked to an installer and he said there might be a concern with the window not rolling down depending on the sub depth - any ideas if this would be a problem?

Next, what amp would you use to push two earthquake 8in in the back doors? Anything under 2.5" that could fit under one of the seats? What amp if I just get the 8in doors and what amp if I replace the fronts with components?

And as far as components up front - I saw the focal 165 kps - but **** 1k for a pair? Anything a little cheaper?

Thanks again.
