Subs hitting late

Just wondering what causes this because my Alpine 9856 HU powering 2 Sony Xplod 1300w subwoofers with a 1200w Sony amp always hit really late. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make them quicker?
Does your head unit have some kind of time alignment or is there anything else like that in the system? How late do they hit? Like 1/4 sec, etc? Whats driving the fronts?

How do you change that?
Depends where the LPF (low pass filter) is. The HU could have one, the amp could have one, and/or you could have an external one. If any one is set too low you will only be sending the very low part of the music to the subs. Depending on what your listening to this might only be the tail end of a bass hit/drum and could sound delayed. To troubleshoot maybe try turning all LPF's off so you have full range sound to the subs (this may also eliminate any possible group delay from the filters).

What is driving the front stage speakers?
