Subs hitting late

Just wondering what causes this because my Alpine 9856 HU powering 2 Sony Xplod 1300w subwoofers with a 1200w Sony amp always hit really late. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make them quicker? And any other cheap alternative to Dynamat for sound deadening?

There are quite a few other brands of sound deadening; however, I'm not sure how much cheaper they are.

As far as your other problem, 1 word: Sony. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What you're most likely experiencing is called 'group delay'. Group delay, from what I understand, is a delay beween when the emp sends a signal to the sub, and the sub reacts. This can be attributed to (as far as I know, again) the subwoofer's characteristics, but is most commonly as a result of the box it is in, and is much more prominent in ported boxes.

I tried changing the filter on the amp and it's a little better but still slow and it lets sound through now...the box i have isn't ported. Would this amp work better with 2 Infinity Reference speakers up front or will it make them be different front the rear Infinity speakers?

I also tried the nos idea...helped a little but still really slow

...no the nos helped spool the turbo for the amp which helped the power supply and allowed my subs to hit higher bass boost...of course I'm kidding.

So far I've got that the amp is just awful but I haven't decided what to do with it. Should I keep it and power the front 2 speakers or will that sound even worse than it powering the subs? Also, how bad is it to have sounds other than bass coming out of the subs?
