Subs heating up. How warm is too warm?

Just curious.

I played the stereo perdy hard on the way home with a constant bass song on. By the time i got home, the dustcaps of the subs were a wee bit warm to the touch. Not really warm or anything, but you could tell that it wasnt their standing, unplayed temperature.

How warm is too warm?

Ive often wondered the same thing I never let mine get over "warm to the touch"

dustcaps will get warm some hot if they are close to the coil. if you dont smell any coil you arent hurting it...

I've always gone by smell with my older subs as well, but i never really felt the cone of the sub after abusing it for a while until recently.

i think if your dust cap is "hot" to the touch you might want to turn the gain down a bit lol

LOL, never thought as subs as fire hazards.
